It may be easier to dismiss disastrous mishaps as; the devil is at it again, or blaming everyone else. Believe it or not, there are many people that are great at pointing their finger at others, not realizing that the four pointing back at them just might be sending a message of truth.
Guess what? Not everything that goes wrong is because of the devil, and not everything is everyone else’s fault. Many times we are guilty of our own mishaps, poor decisions, and just plain blunders.
It is so important to conduct a personal inventory along the way, in order to identify areas of opportunity within our own lives. Now, don’t get me wrong the enemy is busy marching to and fro seeking to kill, steal and destroy and where allowed, he does his job well.
However in order to grow as a person, it is so important to own your stuff! Peel back the layers and really assess what could have been done differently on your part. Asking for feedback is also a powerful gift for you. Ask people that you trust what their opinion is based on their vantage point.
Were you as organized as you could have been? Did you make certain that you had all your facts in order before making a decision? Are you in the right lane managing things within your strength area? Are you being honest with yourself and others?
Any number of things can be the cause of disastrous conditions, and certainly, there are times when the Lord allows difficulties to come our way, for his purpose and our teaching, however, we should not always go to “the devil did this,” releasing ourselves from any accountability.
I LOVE THE SCRIPTURE, PROVERBS 28:13 ESV “WHOEVER CONCEALS HIS TRANSGRESSIONS WILL NOT PROSPER, BUT HE WHO CONFESSES AND FORSAKES THEM WILL OBTAIN MERCY.” NOT ONE OF US IS PERFECT, AND MAKING A MISTAKE IS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL, WE WILL ALWAYS FALL SHORT BECAUSE WE ARE HUMAN. IT IS NOT THE MISTAKE; IT IS HOW WE HANDLE THE MISTAKE. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, MISTAKES ARE GREAT LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES. ONCE YOU ACCESS WHERE YOU WENT WRONG, STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND OWN IT. ASK FOR FEEDBACK ON WHAT WENT WRONG, AND SUGGESTIONS FOR MOVING SUCCESSFULLY FORWARD. APOLOGIZE WHERE APPROPRIATE. THERE IS NO BENEFIT IN WALKING THROUGH LIFE AS IF YOU ARE PERFECT AND NEVER MAKING A MISTAKE. GET REAL!
