In 1976, James Brown released a two-part single. The A side of the record was entitled “Get Up Offa That Thang!” Interestingly enough, the B side of the record was entitled, “Release the Pressure,” which was a continuation of the same song. It would become Brown’s biggest hit during his 1970’s decline.
The hook, “Dance Til You Feel Better,” was a powerful message in and of itself. During some of my sluggish times in life, this song would sound off in my head.
Regardless of what is going on, we have to remember the importance of self-care in all situations. Life can deal some rough blows at times that is for sure. It is easy to stay stuck and let ourselves go physically in the midst of turmoil. Whether we are enjoying problem free days, or days filled with turmoil, we have to carve out “me” time.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV tells us, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
With all these things in mind, the time is now! It is important to maintain our temple so that we are in top shape to take on the purpose for which we were born. We cannot allow a lack of focus on our most important instrument to make or break our results.
Regardless, of what the purpose for your life is, it is critical to acknowledge the call that you have on your life, or at a minimum, be striving to gain clarity
It is paramount, that each day, you are in a maximum performance state to reach your goals. Keep in mind that when you were first fashioned in your mother’s womb, there was already an assigned purpose for why you are here. Think about that! I was reflecting on that one day, and I likened it to being picked for a major sports team. Now, what coach could ever be any more powerful, than Our Lord that selected us for His team? Come up short? Not!
There is nothing that tastes as good as good health feels. Thirty minutes a day to get some exercise in to help maintain your health and wellness is a small investment when compared to all you are expected to produce during your life.
In the words of James Brown, let us get up off our thang’s! Let us live and live life more abundantly.
