Covid-19 has hit our world with vengeance! I for one, never saw this coming. After all, we were faced with HIV-AIDS, SARS, Ebola, Zika, etc., yet the response during those events, pale in comparison.
A panic response is not hard to imagine, after all, none of us have ever endured anything like this. Add to that, twenty-four hours a day, our news stations are covering the Covid-19 pandemic. Daily tolls continue to climb, those infected, and sadly, those who have succumb to this deadly virus.
No doubt about it, we are in the midst of a new world order for the foreseeable future. Initially, I reacted like a lot of people, flat out panic. Admittedly, I ran for the toilet paper, milk, and eggs.
The good news is that I quickly came back to myself and I realized, I needed to simply be still. I was allowing the conditions, to include the hype being generated by unreliable sources to cloud my thinking. Becoming intentionally still in the midst of what is a challenging time, became my best friend. I chose only to give my attention to those that offered facts; provide clarity in the midst of the storm. Facts over fear.
These are not conditions to be ignored for sure. It is necessary to follow the advice of the professionals. Avoiding unnecessary travel, social distancing, practicing proper hygiene are all recommended solutions that make sense, and should not be challenged.
I have enjoyed hearing how families are coming together and doing things, that haven’t been done in years. Game night, movie night, simply enjoying each other’s company. I spoke to a friend just the other day, and they were launching family dinner together again, rather than the normal schedule, of members of the family grabbing something to eat and back out the door.
Being still allows you to think from a place of clarity. This is not a time stop, it is a time to alter your approach. It is a time for planning and even a time to reignite your dreams. I’m not minimizing what our conditions are currently, but we understand that it will pass. How can you use this time to reset your life?
One thing is for sure, our world will not be the same once this pandemic comes to an end. There is a devastation that is occurring, and we cannot ignore that. However, I would challenge you to meditate on how this is impacting you and those that are connected to you. Ask yourself, what do you want to continue once this over, and what is it that you want to change? Could this be a time to shift into a plan that changes the course of your life for your good?
What have you been putting off? What is it that you have wanted to accomplish, however, have been so busy, you have never gotten around to it? Is there an entrepreneurial venture you want to consider? Often times, what seems to be the worse thing possible, opens the doors toward the best you could imagine. Had it not been for conditions that forced you to challenge yourself and what you hold in your heart, mind, and hand, you may have never accomplished your dreams.
Be still and know, that this too is for purpose. Be safe, and use this time for your greater good. It is no time to stopping.
