There are some beauty experts that discourage women over a certain age, or with a certain lip shape, to avoid wearing red lipstick. Really, I say! I think it has much more to do with a person’s style and personality. I’ve seen so many women of all ages that look absolutely stunning wearing a red lip.
Sadly, there are many women that wouldn’t even try red lipstick, because they read, listened to someone else’s opinion and decided that the feedback of others, was more important than their own exploration as to what, not only looked good, or not, on them, but most importantly, how they felt wearing red lipstick and anything else for that matter.
Unfortunately, this is an example of the power of opinions, and how in some cases, they actually have people stuck. Surprisingly there are random rules and opinions that are poured into people’s lives even as young children (generational) and are carried through to adult hood. Opinions, rules, and flat out telling someone what to do, have robbed individuals from living in the middle of their own lives because they are too worried about what someone else thinks.
I’ve met so many adults that are afraid to live their lives on their own terms, because of what a parent wants for them or not. Even friends, expectations. These folks are carrying lifelong baggage based on veil threats or subliminal fear being carrying around.
The result of this lifestyle often robs you of great relationships and great lives. Yes, there are mistakes that are made, but as long as you recognize the mistake, learn from the mistake and try your best not to repeat the mistake, life goes on.
Psalm 16:11 (ESV), tells us clearly, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” This passage reminds us of where we place our trust and our faith, and if we trust in the Lord, and allow Him to lead our path, to show us the good from the challenging along with remaining in close communication with Him, we can live a more joyous life.
We do not have to live a life stuck in the muck and mire of our challenging life experiences. We do not have to stop where it happened, we can live our lives and live them most abundantly.
Don’t misunderstand me, the opinion and experiences of others is important, however, nothing and no one is more important that you and your choices for your best life, living according to the Lord’s will for your life.
Shake it all off, step out on faith and live your best life!
